Solemn Profession in Chulucanas On Sat. April 19th, Isoe Dominguez made his solemn profession of vows in
the parish of San Jose Obrero, Chulucanas. Surrounded by his family
and by the Augustinians of the Vicariate, Isoe pronounced his commitment to
live faithfully
Bishop Dan Turley of Chulucanas presided the Eucharistic celebration with the Augustinian Regional Vicar, John Lydon, receiving the profession of vows in the name of the Prior General. In the homily Fr. John used local images of the alforja (carrying bag used by the people to carry their farm crops to the table), the bible. and the local music to reflect on the three vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. The music for the mass was provided by the community of formation in
Trujillo where Isoe is a member. He is presently in his final year of
theological study. Isoe was born and raised in the mountain town of Santo Domingo. His
father for many years was one of the lay leaders of his community and as a
youth Isoe became one of the animadores of the Sunday liturgies in his small
village. After finishing high school he traveled to the coastal city
of Chiclayo where his brothers and sisters have a family restaurant well
know to the local residents. However, he felt called to giving his
life in service of the Lord and in the mission of the church. So he
returned to his village and then entered the formation program of the
Augustinians. A friendly smile and great pastoral enthusiasm mark Isoe
and because of it he is well loved by all. After the profession mass all participated in a luncheon held in the Pastoral Center of the dioceses and in the evening the family of Isoe offered a small fiesta with dinner and dance for all those that participated in the mass. |
